Singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2face, has confirmed his separation from his wife, actress Annie Idibia, dispelling earlier claims that his Instagram account had been hacked.
The saga began on Sunday when a post appeared on the 49-year-old’s Instagram account, announcing the couple’s separation and revealing that divorce proceedings were underway.
The post read in part: “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce… I would grant a press release soon to say my story.”
Shortly after the statement went viral, it was deleted, and a follow-up post claimed that the musician’s account had been hacked. The second post read: “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control #onelove!”
However, in a video posted after the second message, 2Baba addressed the issue directly, confirming the authenticity of the initial announcement.
“Nobody hacked my account, na me talk wetin I won talk,” he said looking dishevelled as he drank water from a plastic bottle.
This revelation has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with fans and followers expressing shock and sympathy for the couple, who have long been admired for their enduring love story despite past controversies.
Neither Annie Idibia nor her representatives have made any public statements regarding the separation. Fans are awaiting further details, particularly the promised press release from 2Baba.
2Baba and Annie have been married since 2012 and share two children. Their union has been celebrated as one of the most high-profile marriages in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
