Nollywood actress Chika Ike has announced the arrival of her baby girl, just one month after confirming her pregnancy.
The 39-year-old actress shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, writing, “My baby is here, welcome to the world my sunshine.” While revealing the baby’s gender, Chika opted to keep her daughter’s face hidden to protect her privacy.
Fellow actresses Ini Edo, Juliet Ibrahim, Rita Dominic, and Uche Ogbodo were among the many celebrities who congratulated her on the new addition to her family.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation and controversy surrounding the paternity of her child. Social media rumours had linked Chika’s pregnancy to billionaire politician and senator Ned Nwoko, sparking heated debates online.
The allegations, which suggested that Nwoko was the father of Chika’s baby and intended to make her his seventh wife, gained momentum after Nwoko’s actress wife Regina Daniels temporarily deactivated her Instagram account.
Chika, however, vehemently denied the rumours, describing them as “false and baseless.”
“Ned isn’t the father of my child, and whoever else you might come up with in your guessing games isn’t either. And like I’ve said before, I’m not about to be anyone’s seventh wife! Polygamy isn’t for me,” she declared.
The actress also emphasised her commitment to privacy and said she addressed the speculations only because they involved her child. “My privacy is my peace, and no one can unsettle me. I’m basking in the euphoria of my pregnancy, and that’s all that matters to me now,” she said.
Nwoko also issued a statement, dismissing the claims as “false and wicked.”
This is not the first time Chika Ike has been linked to Nwoko. In 2020, similar rumours circulated, which the actress also denied.
Chika Ike was previously married to Tony Eberiri in 2006. The marriage ended in 2013, with the actress citing domestic violence as the primary reason for their separation.
