Contrary to the impression created in many quarters, pop musician, 2face Idibia, has reiterated that the protest he plans to lead on Monday is not anti-government.
He said the demonstration will go on in Lagos and Abuja in spite of calls by the police to shelve it.
“Our planned protest is still on for Monday, 6th February,” he said in a video posted on social media on Saturday.
It comes a day after the police called on the musician and others to shelve their planned protests in the interest of peace and security.
Opposing the alarm raised by the police, the musician said the protest will be peaceful.
Encouraging those who wish to take part to use the opportunity well, the 41-year-old said they must be peaceful and orderly.
“This is not an anti-government protest. It is a pro-Nigeria protest. We want better,” he said.
The artiste had said in a statement on Tuesday that “my partners, colleagues and I have come together to present a platform for real Nigerians to communicate their real pains to government at all levels in a peaceful and articulate manner with a view to getting lasting solutions to our problems.
“This march is about demanding that all saboteurs of good government policies should hands off.
“This march is about encouraging positive minded Nigerians to continue to work without intimidation.
“We have a system that is clearly designed not to work for the majority.”
