Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has hit Kano Pillars with new sanctions over the conduct of the captain, Rabiu Ali, after the NPFL Super Six match day 4 fixture on Monday.
The game between Pillars and Enugu Rangers at Agege Stadium on Monday ended in a 1-1 draw.
The captain charged towards the referee after the final whistle in anger despite being held back by teammates.
An official statement issued by the League Management Company (LMC) on Wednesday said Ali was charged for accosting the referee and in so doing incited others to commit acts of violence and misconduct in breach of Rule C1.3.
It banned Ali for 12 games and fined Kano Pillars N8 million.
The club will also play three home games behind closed-doors.
Ali has been given 48 hours to accept or appeal the charges and sanctions against him in writing.
