The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State said it had prosecuted six persons for theft of motorcycles before a Chief Magistrate Court in Lafia.
The Commandant of the corps, Mohammad Mahmoud-Fari, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.
Mahmoud-Fari said the convicts were; Hashimu Mohammad, Aliyu Adamu, Abubakar Sadiq, Mohammed Yakubu, Bulus Maikasuwa and Likita Monday.
He said they were arrested at various locations in Lafia and environs and arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Shabu, Lafia, for stealing motorcycles contrary to sections 287 and 319 of the state Penal Code.
Mahmoud-Fari explained that the suspects were convicted to three months jail term each with a N10,000 option of fine as spelt out in the state penal code.
The commandant, however, called on the State Government to amend the state penal codes in order to conform with the present day realities.
