Director-general of The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Salihu Dembos has condoled with the family, friends and colleagues of the late Joy Osiagwu.

QEDNG learnt that Canada-based Mrs Osiagwu died on Friday in Arewa Hospital, Jabi after a brief illness.

Osiagwu was a news anchor, reporter, producer, videographer, film editor and media consultant with over two decades of full-time practice in the broadcast industry in Nigeria and North America.

She was media adviser/consultant to the immediate past Nigeia high commissioner to Canada Ambassador Adeyinka Asekun.

Osiagwu worked at NTA for 23 years and retired voluntarily in September 2019.

In a condolence message, Dembos said the entire NTA family was deeply saddened at the news of her death.

He described her as a cherished former colleague, respected reporter and accomplished news caster. He noted that she demonstrated the spirit of journalism with her unwavering dedication, integrity and passion for the profession.

Dembos said Osiagwu brought to her role not only an exceptional talent for storytelling but also a deep sense of responsibility to the truth.

He added that throughout her career her sense of professionalism and commitment set a high standard, inspiring both her colleagues and viewers across the nation as her voice was a trusted source of news.

While extending heartfelt condolences to her family and friends on behalf of the NTA, Dembos said she was part of the fabric of the organisation and that her contributions remain etched in the foundation of NTA’s mission.

The NTA DG enjoined the family to take solace in the impact she made in the field of journalism and on the countless lives in and outside Nigeria while alive.
