Pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, has dissociated himself from a statement which has been circulating on WhatsApp.
A group known on Twitter as Citizens of Nigeria had called the former Adamawa governorship candidate’s attention to a statement which had been circulating on WhatsApp for two weeks.
“Nuhu Ribadu must speak up now. In the past two weeks, a dangerous message has been circulating on Whatsapp purported to have emanated from Nuhu Ribadu. We are yet to read or hear a disclaimer by the man mentioned as the author of the message. @NuhuRibadu must speak up now,” the group said.
In response to the tweet, Ribadu, without mentioning what the statement was about, said on Tuesday that he was amazed that some persons would believe such ‘cheap propaganda and blackmail’.
He said: “It is amazing that some people would even contemplate believing such a cheap propaganda and blackmail.
“The wordings and thought process in that fake statement in circulation couldn’t have emanated from me, or indeed any responsible person. Kindly disregard.”
