National security adviser Nuhu Ribadu on Thursday met with Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf in his office in Abuja.
Yusuf’s spokesman Sunusi Tofa made this known in a statement, saying they discussed recent happenings in Kano following the dissolution of five emirates particularly the dethronement of Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano and restoration of Muhammad Sanusi II.
While Sanusi is operating from the Emir’s palace, Bayero is staying at the Emir’s guest house.
Bayero is in court challenging the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi by Kano State Government.
The meeting comes after Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo accused Ribadu of providing security for Bayero to go into the guest house.
Gwarzo, however, apologised after Ribadu threatened to sue him for defamation.
Tofa said that Yusuf and Ribadu deliberated on various matters relating to state and national development as well as peaceful coexistence in the state.
He quoted Yusuf as describing the meeting as fruitful and emphasised the critical role of the NSA in ensuring peace in the country.
“I briefed him on the recent developments in Kano, and we discussed ways to promote national security and development,” said the governor.
