A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State, Ayomikun Ademorayo, has died after reportedly washing her hair with an insecticide, Sniper, to eliminate lice.
Ms Ademorayo, who is said to be an orphan, died on Sunday. She discovered lice in her hair as she was preparing to make a new hairdo for her birthday on July 18.
She was a graduate of Human Kinetics from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The deceased’s colleagues told The Punch that Ademorayo became unconscious few minutes after applying the insecticide on her hair on Sunday.
It was learnt that she had lost her mother in June while her father had died long ago, leaving her to fend for her younger siblings still in secondary schools.
Ademorayo died while being taken to a private hospital in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Osun NYSC spokesperson, Funmilayo Okundaye, has confirmed the death.
A funeral service was held for the deceased on Monday at the Christian Association of Nigeria Cemetery, Ede.
