Director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General YD Ahmed has called for collective efforts in the search for missing corps member, Yahaya Farouk.
Yahaya went missing while at a Chinese mining company in Ikuru town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Ahmed visited the town on Wednesday and urged the youth and elders of the community to assist the security agencies in searching for the NYSC member.
He again promised that his administration would continue to appeal for adequate security and welfare of corps members at all times, noting that it is also the responsibility of residents of corps members’ host communities to provide security and welfare packages for those serving in their domain.
“The essence of my coming is to appeal to assist us in getting the corps member who came for national service from another state,” he said.
In their responses, the youth president of the community Etete Anthony and the ward secretary Paul Friday said rescue efforts are still ongoing.
