Former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Limited Ibukun Awosika has said that she considers the honorary doctorate bestowed on her by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in 2019 as her most preferred out of four which she has.
Mrs Awosika stated this via an Instagram post on Monday with a video chronicling memories from the university’s 2019 convocation ceremony where she was honoured.
The author and motivational speaker has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from OAU.

Awosika said OAU shaped her into the woman she is today.
“There is no honour, more satisfying, than to be honored in your home. Out of the four honorary doctorates that I have been blessed with, none gives me as much pleasure as the one conferred on me by my own university in 2019. University of Ife, now called Obafemi Awolowo University(UNIFE) shaped who I am in many ways!” she wrote.
Four persons including Awosika were awarded honorary degrees at the 44th convocation of the OAU in December 2019. The other three are Rwandan President, Paul Kagame; marketing communications practitioner, Biodun Shobanjo; and president of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK), Benedict Oramah
