Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu on Friday installed the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa as the Bamofin of Lagos.
The installation ceremony coincided with Obasa’s 50th birthday.
Oba Akiolu said the title was well deserved.
According to him: “If you watch the life and activities of Chief Muddashiru Obasa, you will know that he is calm, cool and very productive, but you have to be very close to him before you know him very well, and that is why I advise him.
“By May 24, 2023, I will be 20 years on this throne, but you cannot count up to 10 honorary chieftaincies that I have awarded because with God guidance, I’m a very careful somebody and I don’t take nonsense. I don’t hesitate to tell anybody the truth.”
The royal father called on the media to embark on ‘constructive criticism’ while appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to grant Lagos a special status.
Obasa noted that the title conferred on him would encourage him to keep doing “a good job for the people of Lagos and Nigerians in general.”
He expressed confidence that the people of Lagos will deliver votes for all APC candidates in the 2023 elections, while promising that the party would continue what is necessary to attain the vision of making the country great.
