A source in the palace has said that Oba Ghandi Olaoye will appeal the decision of the Oyo State High Court on his position as the Soun of Ogbomoso.
Justice Kareem Adedokun, on Wednesday, ruled that the selection process that led to Ghandi’s emergence was fraught with illegalities.
The judge also ruled that Ghandi was not validly nominated by the Laoye Ruling House and declared that “the nomination; approval by the state government and installation by the kingmakers was null and void.”
The judge, therefore, granted the prayer of the plaintiff Prince Kabir Olaoye that “the nomination be set aside” and ordered “a fresh process.”

The plaintiff is one of the candidates for the Soun stool.
A source in the palace quoted by PUNCH urged the public to maintain peace, adding that the judgement would be appealed.
“The case will definitely be appealed and so, people should not fret,” the source said, noting that the judgement was conflicting.
Ghandi was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomosho on September 8, 2023. The throne became vacant following the death of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021. Oba Oyewumi ruled for 48 years and died aged 95.
