A fifth prosecution witness, Musiliu Obanikoro, in the ongoing fraud trial of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday ended his testimony in the case.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Obanikoro descended from the witness box after defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo, said he had finished cross-examination on the witness.

Obanikoro, who had been in the witness box since January, told the court that he learnt of the death of one of his aides, Justin Erukaa, through the police.

Erukaa, according to evidence presented in court, had a discussion with former national security adviser, (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, which Obanikoro said he was not privy to.

Obanikoro said: “He left Lagos a day before Sallah about two years ago, and the police called one of my SAs that the owner of the phone just had an accident and died on the spot, and he immediately called me and informed me.”

The prosecution called its sixth witness, a member of staff of Ecobank, Olugboyega Falae, who said he had worked in Skye bank, (now Polaris Bank), as head of its estate support department.

After the witness finished his evidence before the court, he was cross-examined by the defence counsel, but there was no re-examination from the prosecution.

The court adjourned until Wednesday (tomorrow) for continuation of trial.
