Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has held a meeting with some PDP governors and the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, in London.
The meeting is believed to be linked to the 2023 elections.
In attendance at the meeting were Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke.
The aforementioned are allies of Wike who wants PDP chairman Iyorchia Ayu to resign as part of conditions for them to support Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, after Wike was overlooked for the vice-presidential slot.
Atiku is reported to have flown to the UK for a meeting with Wike. The Rivers governor met the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu also in London on Monday.
Obasanjo, a former member of the PDP, recently received Tinubu in his private residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
