Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his counterparts in Ondo and Bayelsa Rotimi Akeredolu and Douye Diri respectively on Thursday evening attended the lying-in-state and service of songs for Abigail Makinde mother of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Mr Makinde thanked the governors in a tweet for attending the function.
The governor said he felt privileged to have shared about 53 years of his life with his mother.
“This evening, we held the lying in state and service of songs for my mother, Chief (Mrs) Abigail Omojolagbe Amope Makinde (nee Omoregie). I feel privileged because I got to share nearly fifty-three years of my life with her, and I’ll treasure the beautiful memories I have of her,” he wrote.
“I thank everyone who came from near and far to attend the funeral ceremonies. I especially thank my brothers, Governors Douye Diri, @RotimiAkeredolu and @GovernorObaseki, for taking time off governance to spend the evening with my family.”
Mrs Makinde died on October 15 at her Ibadan home.
She had celebrated her 81st birthday in July.
