President Muhammadu Buhari’s social media aide Lauretta Onochie says Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki will visit the president to thank him for the peaceful conduct of Edo governorship election.
Mr Obaseki was re-elected on September 19 on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after being kicked out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by a former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole.
“HE @GovernorObaseki will pay a Thank You visit to @MBuhari for the enabling democratic environment he provided for the people of Edo state to make an independent choice,” Mrs Onochie tweeted Friday.
“The election has been adjudged as free, fair and credible. Its conduct has drawn applause from beyond Nigeria.”
She did not give further details on the time of the visit.
Obaseki had visited Buhari for intervention in the heat of his crisis with Oshiomhole. But the president restated his resolve not to interfere in party matters.
