First Lady of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki, has paid a condolence visit to the family of Uwa Omozuwa, a student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) who was raped and murdered late May.
Mrs Obaseki led top government officials on the visit to the family on Tuesday.
She assured the bereaved family of the state government’s commitment to get justice for the 22-year-old and bring the culprits to book.
Ms Omozuwa was rapped and injured on May 27 when she visited The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, to study. She died from the injuries three days later in a hospital.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had on Sunday ordered the police to investigate the incident.
Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force have since taken over the case following outrage that greeted the incident.
