Vice presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23 election, Peter Obi, has felicitated with Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Samuel Ortom of Benue State, after their re-election was confirmed on Saturday.
Obi, in a statement on Monday by his media office, said the victories were well-deserved and was born out of people’s love for PDP.
He said: “These victories, which I expected and which are well-deserved, are in recognition of the people’s love for our great party, the PDP, which has impacted positively on the lives of ordinary Nigerians and greatly enhanced Nigeria’s democracy.
“I heartily rejoice with our worthy electoral ambassadors – Their Excellencies Aminu Tambuwal, Samuel Ortom and Bala Mohammed.”
He also prayed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Bala Mohammed winner of Bauchi State governorship election.
“We are anxiously waiting for his declaration having won the election, and in view of the dismissal, on Monday by the Federal High Court Abuja, of APC’s suit challenging INEC’s decision to resume collation of results in the Bauchi governorship election,” Obi said.
He called on Nigerians “to know that our democracy is in dire straits and that all must work hard to rescue it as that is the foundation to build the Nigeria of our dreams.”
