Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano on Thursday met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting came barely 24 hours after attorney-general of the federation Abubakar Malami threatened to invoke emergency rule as part of measures to address security challenges and safeguard electoral process in the state.
Anambra governorship election is scheduled for November 6.
Mr Obiano updated the president on security situation in Anambra.
Stakeholders including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had raised alarm over the upsurge in cases of violent attacks on individuals and government facilities in Anambra.
