Actress Kate Henshaw and comedian Okey Bakassi on Friday caused a stir with a video of themselves hosting a fundraising dinner for the re-election of Imo Stae governor Hope Uzodimma who is a member of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC).
The duo who were staunch supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 general election joined other APC members in “Honouring the legacy and continuation of the government of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma.”
The video generated mixed reactions from X users who stormed the platform to react.
“Kate Henshaw and Okey Bakassi hosting a fundraiser for Hope Uzodimma of APC shouldn’t be an issue, she has a job to do & you wouldn’t expect Kate Henshaw to turn it down becoz it’s an APC thing. No Kate Henshaw slander will be tolerated,” Mercy Egbai wrote.
Ibibas wrote: “What’s the noise about Kate Henshaw Okey Bakassi hosting an event in Imno State? They are only doing their jobs to earn a livelihood. These guys are professionals and should be allowed to host any event. It doesn’t change their belief system or support for the Obidient movement.
5 Nollywood actresses supporting Peter Obi for presidency
I’m waiting for your next move, Okey Bakassi tells Peter Obi
“In fact for them to be called to host the event means they are highly rated and know their onions. Let’s stop this habit of cancelling people and criticising them for doing their professional job. How many of you have resigned from your job because your boss supports opposition? All mallam to him kettle abeg.
Kate Henshaw don move on bills have to be paid, if you like don’t move on let’s play opposition, be there and be doing Tinubu is not my president he is the only one to remove him is alliances and strong opposition,” Emmanuel Uguru added.
Isoaniekan wrote: “So because Kate Henshaw is an Obedient, she cannot host programs for APC? For something, she’ll get paid for? Will people that are dragging her pay her bills? The same people will go to her for Giveaway. Some certain behaviour must stop. She’s simply doing her job.

Another user identified as Sodiq Tade argued that Kate Henshaw has the right to support whomever she wants to
“Kate Henshaw has the right to support anybody. That she supported Peter Obi some months ago doesn’t make her a Labour Party member. The beauty of democracy is in choices. You can support a party at the federal level and support another at the state level. Move on!” he wrote.
