Actor OC Ukeje and his colleague Lala Akindoju reunited in Canada over the weekend for an exclusive screening of the movie Gangs Of Lagos at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Lala took to Instagram on Monday to share photos of herself, OC, actress Adesua Etomi, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and others at the event.
The 35-year-old also posted another photo of herself and the Half of a Yellow Sun actor who is partly based in Canada, beaming with smiles on their faces.
Captioning the photos, the actress who recently announced her appointment as Amazon senior creative executive wrote: “We had an exclusive screening of #GangsOfLagos at #TIFF22 and we are grateful for all the love and support we received. Many thanks to @tiff_net , the Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria’s Trade Department, and our dear @primevideonaija family for all the contributions to making sure we had a great screening. #GangsOfLagos is coming soon to @primevideonaija and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
Lala and OC shared a close friendship before the former’s marriage in 2018. Their closeness made Lala defy gender roles, stealing the spotlight as she played best man to OC during the latter’s wedding in 2014.
OC’s absence at Lala’s wedding, however, raised concerns as many wondered whether the actor who Lala once described as her ‘ride or die’ was having troubles with the Dazzling Mirage star.
A close source told NET that since OC Ukeje got married, Lala has been constrained to maintain a distance between them and gradually the friends have grown apart.
“Obviously you were not expecting that they would still remain, close friends, after he got married. Some women could have issues with their husbands maintaining a close friendship with a woman. They’re not enemies but it’s no longer a friendship like that,” the source said.
