Protesters, under the umbrella of Citizens United for Peace and Stability, demanding the resignation of Bukola Saraki as Senate President returned to the National Assembly for Day 3 of their protest on Thursday.
A bloody clash was averted by policemen when another group called Citizens in Defence of Democracy, believed to be pro-Saraki, attempted to dance their way towards canopies mounted by the anti-Saraki #OccupyNASS protesters.
Beyond Saraki’s resignation, demonstrators are also demanding urgent action to open up the budget of the National Assembly for public scrutiny, return of the 36 new SUVs bought at N36million each and the scrapping of constituency projects/account for billions of naira paid to federal lawmakers.
Images taken on Thursday evening by Femi Ipaye show anti-Saraki demonstrators praying and addressing the media.
