Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, has revealed his delight to have captained the national team in George Weah’s testimonial game on Tuesday.
Ogu, 30, led an experimental Nigerian side against Liberia in Monrovia.
The game was organized in honour of Weah, the country’s President, whose number 14 jersey was retired.
Ogu and his teammates were far superior, with goals from Henry Onyekuru and Simeon Nwankwo enough to resist any late comeback from Kpah Sherman.
The Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel star, who has been capped 19 times, couldn’t believe his luck.
In a post on Twitter, Ogu claims he “will never forget this day for the rest of my life.”
He added, “leading my country with such wonderful talents in a game against Liberia with the president of Liberia and the only African player to win the ballon d’Or. I feel blessed.”

Weah is regarded as Africa’s greatest of all-time.
In a career that spanned nearly a decade and a half, he featured for Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille in France, AC Milan in Italy and English sides Manchester City and Chelsea.
As well as being named the 1995 World Footballer of the Year, he also won the Ballon d’Or in the same year and remains the only African to win either award.
