Afolabi Ogunde-Kikiowo, a daughter of late theatre legend, Hubert Ogunde, has died.
Mrs Ogunde-Kikiowo died on Wednesday.
Her sister, Dayo Ogunde, broke the news of her death in a Facebook post.
“Word fail me at this moment. I am so heartbroken now.
“My dear sister, I never believed you would leave us so soon.
“Oh Lord have mercy.
“You would always be remembered.
“Forever in our heart…
“Rest on in the bosom of your maker.
“Adieu. Afolabi Ogunde Kikiowo,” Dayo wrote.
Qed.ng could not immediately confirm the cause of Afolabi’s death.
Described as one of her father’s favourites, the deceased was a good dancer and featured her in many of his productions.
Her father founded the first contemporary professional theatrical company in Nigeria called the African Music Research Party in 1945.
Ogunde wrote, directed and appeared in over 100 theatre productions and films like Aiye, Jaiyesimi, Aropin N’tenia and Ayanmo.
He appeared as himself in the 1990 Hollywood film, Mr Johnson, which also stars former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.
Ogunde died on April 4, 1990, at London’s Cromwell Hospital following a brief illness, four years after he founded the National Troupe of Nigeria on behalf of the Federal Government.
Wives and numerous children survived him.
