Former special adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on political matters Babafemi Ojudu on Saturday shared a throwback photo of rights lawyer Femi Falana and wife Funmi Falana to celebrate the latter’s elevation as senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The SAN, which is the highest legal honour in the country, was conferred on Mrs Falana and 57 other lawyers at an elaborate ceremony at the Supreme Court on November 27, after which the Falana held a reception at the Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, among other friends of the Falana family was at the occasion.
The event was attended by senior lawyers, a judge and an array of human rights activists.
Celebrating Mrs Falana’s new status, Ojudu wrote on Instagram alongside the throwback photo, “Mrs Funmi Falana, Nee Aguda, wife of my friend and Comrade Mr Femi Falana ( SAN ) was called to the inner bar. That is to say both husband and wife are now members of the elite club in the legal profession. It’s been a long journey from our days at the University of Ife and later as young bachelors on Funmilayo St, Ikosi, Ketu and in the trenches all through the military era.

“Today I want to celebrate not only the individual achievements of two exceptional lawyers but also the power of cooperation and mutual assistance within a couple. Together, the Falana’s have scaled the heights of legal practice, proving that a shared commitment to each other’s success can elevate both partners to the pinnacle of their careers.”
Senator Ojudu said it is a testament to the notion that behind every successful lawyer, there often stands a “supportive and collaborative partner.”
He described it as “shared triumph” for Falana and wife.
