Former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has applauded the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on his presentation at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) in Japan.
The conference, the largest in Japan, is being attended by presidents and business leaders and will last from August 28-30.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala thanked Mr Guterres for the ‘simplicity’ and ‘clarity’ of his vision and recognition of accomplishments in Africa despite challenges.
“Thumbs up 👍🏾 UNSG @antonioguterres for the simplicity and clarity of your vision and your positive recognition of Africa’s accomplishments in the midst of challenges @ticad7 at Yokohama,” she said.
The former minister also appreciated Prime Minister Abe Shinzo of Japan.
She said: “Was wonderful to hear Prime Minister @AbeShinzo situate @gavi’s immunization work in the context of Universal Health Coverage @ticad7 in Yokohama. Thank you for the support to Africa’s children.”
President Muhammadu Buhari is also attending the conference.
