Senator-elect for Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, has been denied accreditation by National Assembly officials for the inauguration of the ninth Senate.

The former Imo State governor is yet to be issued his certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Okorocha was denied access into the National Assembly when he arrived on Tuesday around 7:40 am.

A Federal High Court had ruled last week that he should be issued a certificate of return by INEC.

The electoral commission says it would meet on Tuesday (today) to decide on the ruling.

Okorocha and another senator from Imo State would not partake in the vote for the next Senate President and Deputy Senate President.

This means that 107 senators out of 109 senators-elect would be involved in voting according to the roll call by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori.
