Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSN), Tony Okoroji, and others have mourned the death of Ras Kimono’s partner, Efemena Okedi, who died on Sunday.
Ms Okedi’s death came three months after that of Kimono, who died on Sunday, June 10.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Okoroji wrote: “Efe Okedi was a special kind of woman. Few Nigerian women have made the kind of impression that Efe Okedi has made on me. Just recently, Efe lost the love of her life, my friend, the great rub-a-dub master, Ras Kimono, and father of her daughter, Dimma, a guy with whom Efe was inseparable. Completely heartbroken as she was, Efe did everything to make sure that kimono was buried like a king. In Lagos, in Asaba, in Onicha Olona, Efe was a guiding light of the celebrated burial of Ras Kimono.
“I am totally devastated. It makes no sense… just one month after kimono was laid to rest, I received a call early this morning that Efe Okedi has joined Kimono! The beautiful Efe Okedi has passed on! I am really not sure I can deal with this.”
Kimono’s contemporary on the reggae scene, Orits Wiliki, wrote: What is going on? Another black Sunday. I am speechless.”
Veteran broadcaster, Bisi Olatilo, said Efemena’s death was a sad development to the entertainment industry coming three months after the demise of her husband.
The producer of the Bisi Olatilo Show (BOS) told NAN that the news came to him as a shock and was a sad thing for the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“What a sad time for us. We have not come to terms with Ras Kimono’s death only to be shocked by the loss of his wife again.
“She was hale and hearty from my last observation and I had no reason to think that she will give up the ghost soon,” he said.
Reggae musician, Righteousman, said that he was speechless and was very sad about the news of her death.
“I was with her on Saturday and there was no symptom to that effect that she would soon be gone and be no more.
“It is a terrible loss but only God knows best,” he said.
