Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented certificate of return to Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
National Commissioner of INEC in charge of South-South, Mohammed Lecky, presented certificates of return in a ceremony on Wednesday in Asaba to Okowa and 25 out of 29 state legislators-elect.
The commission withheld certificates of returns of four Assembly constituencies due to pending court cases.
The four constituencies denied certificates of return are: Ethiope East (APC); Ughelli North I (APC); Ughelli North II (APC); and Ukwuani Constituency (PDP).
State resident electoral commissioner, Cyril Omorogbe, appreciated security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order during the election.
Okowa thanked Deltans for re-electing him. He added that elections must be conducted creditably for the country to experience progress.
“The interest of this country is that we must conduct election in such a way and manner that the global world will be able to also see Nigeria as a growing democracy.
“To that extent we will attract more investors into this country to invest and that will help to create jobs for our people,’’ Okowa said.
