Special Assistant on Youth Development Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Lawrence Akpomiemie, was on Friday night shot dead in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
Ngozi, as he was popularly known, was said returning from an outing with a lady suspected to be his girlfriend when he was ambushed.
The Nation reports that some youths have mobilised to attack perceived enemies of the deceased who had been linked to political unrest in the area.
Prior to his appointment by Okowa in 2016, Akpomimie was standing trial for murder and other crime but was controversially released from prison before being appointed.
