Nigeria Twitter users are currently debating if indigenous rapper, Olamide, is a good rapper or not.
The conversation began after M.I released his mixtape, IM3, on Monday night.
M.I, had boasted while promoting the mixtape that he is as great or greater than American rappers.
To level the playing field, lovers of Nigerian hip hop decided to start comparing the rapper to other Nigerian lyricists.
Rappers like Mode 9 and Jesse Jagz also made the list but it was Olamide’s name that tore up the conversation.
People are now arguing on whether Olamide is really as good as the hype or he is all about making noise.
Dancehall act, Cynthia Morgan, also joined in on the conversation when she told a Twitter user to choke after he expressed that “only dumb ones call Olamide a rapper”.
The verdict is not in yet but here are some tweets:
Who gave this one internet access ???Choke this lil b???????? https://t.co/43kZN4gVvx

Olamide is a great person and can make songs but he’s not a good rapper. Don’t be tribalistic but honest, he’s whack!!
— Rapstar J.O (@CokeBoiAfrica) March 1, 2016
Here’s why Olamide would never be king. The man doesn’t care for trivial things like greatness. Give him his money.https://t.co/LmEtujAJUH
— Oris Aigbokhaevbolo (@Catchoris) March 1, 2016
Olamide can rap, if he wants to, but at the moment he’s overtaken by what the streets and clubs want. Can’t qualify him as a rapper mehn.
— Ola Chidera (@jbanj) March 1, 2016
Meanwhile Olamide had this to say:
