Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, on Friday debunked claims that he was paid salary in advance by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
It was earlier speculated in the media that the former Nigeria skipper was paid six months salary advance, a rather shocking move, while other national team coaches were being owed.
Oliseh, however, disclosed that he and his assistants have not been paid and expressed his disappointment about the rumour.
“They make people think I was paid in advance,” the tactician told Brila FM.
“Which is not so and I am still waiting to be paid. ”
Dream Team VI Coach, Samson Siasia, was fined last month by the NFF for going public about his unpaid salary.
Oliseh stated that his silence before now was a personal decision because he did not want to draw public attention to the matter.
“The only thing is that I just decided not to go public with it.
“When it comes to money I am disappointed because based on what I am being owed I should have stopped working, my assistants should also stop working.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday released the $226,000 outstanding allowances and bonuses due the national U-23 team.
The release of the fund is coming after Nigeria’s qualification for the Rio Olympics Games at the ongoing U-23 Nations Cup in Senegal.
The money was released in a reaction to the news that the boys were planning a showdown with the authority by boycotting the final tie against Algeria.
Nigeria played the semi-final against Senegal following appeals from well-meaning Nigerians and Siasia who begged the players to save their career.
To avert any embarrassment during the final, the Minister of Youth and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalong, ordered Permanent Secretary, Christian Ohaa, and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Alhassan Yakmut, to source for funds and settle the outstanding payments for all the qualifying matches.
The money has reportedly been remitted into the NFF account.
