One of the wives of the Ooni of Ife Olori Ashley Adeyeye-Ogunwusi has paid tributes to her late mother-in-law Wuraola Ogunwusi.
The king’s mother died on April 29, 2012 at the age of 66 and left behind her husband Prince John Ogunwusi, and children namely Adegboyega, Adetunji, Folashade, Adesola, Adeyeye (Ooni) and Adebimpe.
Olori Ashley expressed her love for her late mother-in-law in an Instagram post in commemoration of Mothering Sunday.
She said, “To my beautiful Mother in Love… Iya Oba, Iya Oonirisa, Omo Soji Opa, Iya ni Wura. Olori Agba Wuraola Sidikatu Abegbe Ogunwusi 👑you will forever be in our hearts. Love you Mommy even in death.”
Olori Ashley, whom the king married last year, also celebrated all “mothers, women, parents, guardians and caregivers who stand behind every child as a mother.”
She added, “Mother’s love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible, a Mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, knows no pity, it dares all things, crushes anything that stands in its path. As a Mother we can always take the place of others but our place can never be taken, especially in our children’s lives.
“Motherhood brings you to your knees in a way that doesn’t leave room for you to judge others. You become very tolerant, remorseful and also realise that there’s no way to be a perfect Mother but millions of ways to be the best Mother you can be to your children and for your children.
“Mothers, remember that the most precious jewels you’ll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children, fight for them, sacrifice for them, let them embody your strength to pass on to their own children too.”
