Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday joined a host of high-profile personalities at the coronation of Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Also in attendance was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa; and Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi.
Ex-governors present include Rashidi Ladoja (Oyo) and Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo).
Presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu was represented by former deputy governor of Lagos Femi Pedro.
Traditional rulers present include Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and Ààrẹ Ọ̀nà Kakanfò of Yorùbáland, Gani Adams.
The installation ceremony is being held at Mapo Hall.
Speaking after being handed his staff of office by Makinde, the new Olubadan assured the people of Ibadan and Nigeria in general that he would not let them down.
“I want to assure all that I will not the people of Ibadan down. I will not let the people of Nigeria down,” he said.
