The Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has visited the home of the late statesman, Obafemi Awolowo, at Ikenne, Ogun State.
The monarch was received on Thursday on the invitation of Ambassador Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, daughter of the former Western Region premier.
The Oluwo sat on the late Awolowo’s seat at the dining. He then said in a post on Instagram on Friday: “No Yoruba like Baba Awolowo…. maybe one day we will find one but I am definitely working to be one, yes I will.”
He also took a picture at the grave of the late statesman.
“Final resting place of Baba Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s earthly body but not for his soul,” he said.
The Oluwo added that Awolowo would remain his hero forever and that he follows his legacy.
“Awo, a hero, nationalist, human right activist and a pillar that held and still holding the nation (Nigeria). If his existence were to be in the black days, maybe, who knows, he would be one of our gods. Despite he came at a ripe time, he was a force, rallying point and a factor to regional and national decision. He was a founding member of the very few who laid the foundation to the Democratic destiny of Nigeria,” he said in another post on Instagram.
