Former Nigeria youth international, Isaac Success, staked claim for a spot to the Rio Olympics with another masterpiece to help struggling Spanish side, Granada, thrash Levante 5-1 on Thursday evening.

Success, 20, who has featured for Nigeria at the U-17 and U-20 levels, is one of those strongly tipped to make Samson Siasia’s final squad to the football event of the quadrennial fiesta.

The youngster displayed his attacking prowess at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes by finding the back of the net once and contributing another in the rout.

Success led the onslaught by scoring the opener for the Nazaríes after just 25 minutes played.

The former BJ Foundation prodigy pounced on a pinpoint pass from Ruben Perez to score his sixth of the season and Granada’s first of five wonderful goals.

And just before the break the home side struck once more, Ruben Rochina finding the net this time, with Success to thank for creating the opening.

Youssef El Arabi grabbed a hat-trick while Ruben Garcia got a consolation for the visitors 10 minutes from time.

The victory lifts José González’s side out of the relegation zone with 33 points from 34 games.

Success has featured in all but four games for El Grana this term – signalling his worth to the side which narrowly escaped the drop last season.

Granada Sporting Director, Juan Carlos Cordero, who is well aware of the qualities of the Nigerian, refused to be drawn into making rash decisions about the player’s involvement at the Olympics.

He said on Thursday: “In the next one month, we will speak and I will give an answer.”

Success and his teammates must avoid defeat in their four remaining fixtures against Celta de Vigo, Las Palmas, Sevilla and Barcelona.
