Super Eagles star, Kenneth Omeruo, has bid farewell to ex-Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, after he announced his retirement from national duties.
The 25-year-old soccer star shared a picture of the retiring midfielder on Instagram on Thursday.
“Congratulations For a successful National team Career my Skippo @mikel_john_obi all the best for the future 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾,” he wrote.
Mikel Obi officially announced his retirement from representing the Nigerian national team on Wednesday.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the 32-year-old said that he was proud to have played his first and last major tournament as a senior player in Egypt.
The former Chelsea man has been a key member of the Super Eagles since he made his debut appearance against Libya in August 2005.
During his stint in the national team, Mikel played in two Fifa World Cup tournaments and four Africa Cup of Nations, where he won the title in 2013 and a bronze medal in 2019.
Earlier in July, Mikel agreed a deal to join Turkish side, Trabzonspor, on a two-year deal with an option for a further year.
