Veteran actress Toyin Afolayan popularly known as Lola Idije has finally addressed swirling rumours involving her goddaughter, Biodun Okeowo also known as Omoborty.
The controversy began following Omoborty’s lavish wedding a few months ago which gained significant attention on social media.
What should have been a joyful occasion quickly became the subject of heated gossip, with claims surfacing that Omoborty’s husband had previously been romantically involved with one of Lola Idije’s daughters.
This led to accusations that Omoborty had “stolen” him from her.
Despite the actress publicly denying these allegations during an Instagram Live session over the weekend, the rumours persisted.
To put an end to the speculation, Lola Idije took to her Instagram page late Monday to clear the air once and for all.
In her post, she explained that her only interaction with Omoborty’s husband had been during a phone call when her goddaughter introduced him.
Lola firmly stated that neither she nor any of her daughters had any prior connection with the man in question.
She wrote, “I want to address the rumours going around and clear the air.
“The first time I ever spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call. I did not know him before that, and none of my daughters know him personally.
“Biodun, aka Omoborty, did not snatch my daughter’s boyfriend. I attended the wedding; there’s no way she would do that, and I would still attend the wedding.
“Thank you, and I hope this clarifies everything.”
Biodun Okeowo tied the knot with her US-based lover, Adeniyi Olabiyi in July.
