Actress Biodun Okeowo popularly known as Omoborty has expressed gratitude to her senior colleague Lola Idije for publicly defending her against accusations of husband-snatching.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Omoborty thanked Lola Idije for speaking the truth and helping clear her name amidst the swirling rumours.
She emphasised the importance of addressing the allegations, expressing concern over the potential impact on her mental well-being, family and reputation.
Omoborty revealed that she initially refrained from responding to the accusations but after seeing her daughter step in to defend her online, she felt compelled to speak up.
She wrote, “Thank you so much, ma, @lola_idije1959, for speaking the truth on this matter. I also want to thank everyone who reached out with concern.”
“Yes, I needed to defend myself—for my children, my unborn children, my husband, my in-laws, my family, and my true fans. As people often say, the internet never forgets. I don’t want to be remembered for something that doesn’t define who I am,” she continued.
Omoborty stressed that her mental health was a priority and staying silent while being bullied was not an option.
“My sanity comes first in all of this,” she said. “Being bullied is unhealthy. The breaking point for me was seeing my daughter comment on Gistlover to defend me.
“That’s something she would never do under normal circumstances, and it made me realize it was time to protect her and set the record straight.”
In a final note Omoborty expressed relief after clearing the air with a live video. “I’ve spoken my truth, and that gives me peace. Thank you all for your love. God bless you all,” she concluded.
Lola Idije had previously debunked the rumour, clarifying that she attended Omoborty’s wedding and that her husband had no connection to any of the allegations involving her daughters.
