Nollywood star actress, Omoni Oboli, has postponed the Ghana premiere of her latest comedy movie, The First Lady.
The 37-year-old made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday saying “Ghana! My peeps, we are sorry but we have had to postpone our Nov 21st premiere of #TheFirstLady. New date will be communicated shortly”.
She, however, assured fans in another tweet that “I promise to make it up to you my Ghana peeps! I know you’ve been waiting for #TheFirstLady. I’ll let you know the new date soon. Love you!”
In a phone chat with Qed.ng, the actress said the postponement was due to “reasons beyond our control” but promised that when it holds, the Ghana premiere “will live up to the high standards associated with all our productions”.
The romantic comedy which premiered in Nigeria on September 29 is scheduled for screening at the Odeon Cinema (Greenwich) in London on Friday, November 27.
The First Lady tells the story of a prostitute, Michelle, who is stuck in a world she cannot escape from. Her hope is that one day a prince charming would rescue her from it all.
Along with Omoni, other actors in the movie include Alex Ekubo, Joseph Benjamin, Chinedu Ikedieze, Yvonne Jegede and Anthony Monj.
Currently in its eighth week in some cinemas, the movie has been adjudged ‘highest grossing Nigerian movie of the year.”
