Actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, famously known as Omosexy, has addressed her periodic absences from the Nigerian film industry.
In a recent social media post, Omotola shared that she takes breaks to relax, reflect, and recharge after working continuously for many years.
Having begun her acting career at the tender age of 15, she explained that the intense pace of her profession has made it necessary to step away from time to time to maintain her passion and creative energy.
“I know many don’t understand why I step away from movies for a few years and then come back again!” Omotola wrote.
“I’ve seen fans asking when I’ll return to the screen, but when you’ve been working since 15 like I have… you’ll understand the need to relax, relive, relearn, and recharge. Who gets it and who’s following?”
Omotola’s journey in Nollywood began in 1995 when she accompanied a friend to an audition and landed her first role.
Her breakout moment came in the 1996 film Mortal Inheritance, where she portrayed a young woman battling sickle-cell anemia, a role that cemented her status as one of Nigeria’s leading actresses.
