Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Mohbad, has strongly refuted allegations made by the singer’s associate, Spending, accusing her of misrepresenting events surrounding his death.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday, Wunmi addressed Spending’s claims, stating that she had remained silent to gather strength but was now ready to defend herself against defamation.
Spending had alleged in a series of Instagram posts on Sunday that Wunmi had a heated argument with Mohbad while they were in a car heading home on September 10, 2023.
He claimed she dropped their son in distress and physically dragged Mohbad despite his existing injuries.
He also disputed her claim of providing first aid, insisting that he and another individual, Bami, were the ones who got the ointments, while Bami treated the singer.
Additionally, he raised doubts about the nurse who later attended to Mohbad, questioning whether she was sent or arrived by mistake.
Reacting to the claims, Wunmi denied having any serious argument with Mohbad before his death.
She clarified that their only disagreement occurred on the way home after he was involved in a fight, but they did not argue inside their home.
She wrote, “I want to set the record straight. The only argument I had with my husband was on our way home because I was upset that he fought. We never argued in the house.
“When we got back from the show, he was downstairs discussing the incident with his friends, including you, until around 6 AM.
“I went straight to the room with our baby Liam, and he later came upstairs in the morning to apologize because he knew I was upset. Which every WOMAN would have done!”
Addressing the first aid claims, Wunmi stated that she only massaged Mohbad’s hand with Robb and gave him paracetamol, which was obtained by others.
She questioned Spending’s certainty about events he was not fully present for.
“I never claimed to have given him first aid. I only said I massaged his hand with Robb and gave him the paracetamol that Darosha and Bami got.
“I did not even know you went to the pharmacy with them until I saw your write-up. You were good to my husband, and I respected you for that, but I never accused you of anything. I only stated the facts.”
She further accused Spending of giving false statements at the inquest about her relationship with Mohbad.
“At the inquest, you lied that you had never seen me cook for my husband, even though I served you rice on Monday before you left. You also lied about us fighting on the way home, just as you did in this write-up.
“You need to tell the people coaching you that the game is up. From now on, it is fire for fire. I know you loved my husband, and I do not wish you harm, but I will not let you defame me any longer.”
Wunmi also suggested that Spending’s accusations were financially motivated, linking them to donations he allegedly received on TikTok.
“You are here spreading lies as if they did not contribute money for you on a TikTok platform yesterday evening! The money was contributed last night, and you made this post last night too!
“You are simply delivering what you have been paid to say, and I am not surprised. Do not forget that you have already written your statement at the police station.”
She concluded with a warning, stating that she would no longer remain silent as attempts were made to tarnish her reputation.
The controversy continues to spark debates among Mohbad’s fans and the public, as calls for justice over the singer’s death persist.
