Super Eagles star, Ogenyi Onazi, has expressed disappointment with the country’s position on the latest FIFA World Rankings.
Despite a commanding 4-2 victory over Argentina in an international friendly, the three-time African champions slipped terribly in the rating released on Thursday.
Nigeria dropped nine places to 50th in the world and eight in Africa.
Onazi, who was absent from the encounter played in Russia due to injury, can’t understand the rationale for the slide.
“Well, I don’t know how this FIFA ranking thing works but it doesn’t matter whatever position we are ranked,” the Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder told AOIFootball.
“The current ranking is not a position of the way things are.
“It’s just not fair we dropped despite the performances we put up in the qualifiers and even in the friendly match against Argentina.”
Nonetheless, Onazi will be comforted by his team’s ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
