Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has led a government delegation to the residence of the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure.
The delegation met the elder statesman on Friday night whose daughter was killed by gunmen at Ore junction in Ondo State.
The deputy governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Olugbenga Ale.
Mr Ajayi said the state government received the news of the death with shock.
Fasoranti’s daughter, Funke Olakunrin, 58, was reportedly heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State when she was attacked and fatally shot by suspected kidnappers who were on a robbery attack.
Ajayi said Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had cut short his trip outside the state to return home on hearing the news.
The deputy governor vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to book.
Olakunrin is the second child of 94-year-old Fasoranti to die. The elder statesman had also lost a daughter, Bunmi, some years ago.
