One year after, celebs remember Chibok girls

Chibok-protest1365 days after they were kidnapped from their school by Boko Haram terrorists, the fate of the over 234 girls still remains uncertain, unknown and bleak.

It should be recalled that Boko Haram extremists had stormed the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State in the night of April 14, 2014, and forcefully took the girl students away in trucks.

Even though the incident sparked local and international outrage, majority of the girls are still with their captors.

However, one year after the tragic incident, many Nigerian celebrities have continued to pay ‘tributes’ to the girls.

Radio girl, Toke Makinwa wrote on her Instagram page, ‘365 days without the girls. Sad. May God deliver them from the hands of Boko Haram; may their families feel the comfort in these times too. Unacceptable. Please say a prayer for the abducted Chibok girls today.’

Funmi Iyanda wrote, ‘For Chibok girls; for us all#NoWords.’

Funke Kuti waxed philosophical as she wrote, ‘One year after…Oh God look with compassion on our missing Chibok school girls. We pray for an end to their captivity. We grieve the violence and deprivation facing the missing girls. Comfort them in their fears after being torn away from everything. Continue to sustain their families who grieve their lost daughters…’

Renowned motivational speaker, Fela Durotoye wrote on Twitter, ‘In one year, our girls have all celebrated a birthday away from home. In one year, our girls may have become mothers#BBOG’
