Following the death of the chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday inaugurated Olufunke Hassan as the new chairman of the LCDA.
Mrs Hassan was the immediate vice-chairperson of the council.
Mr Olakanle, popularly called Tant’olorun, died on Saturday, November 2 aged 54 after a brief illness.
Olakanle died four years after his predecessor Babatunde Oke passed on of complications arising from COVID-19 in August 2020.
Hassan was born and raised in Lagos State. She has a B.L in law, Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and L.L.M in law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
She was formerly supervisor for the Department of Agriculture and Social Services Onigbongbo LCDA, supervisor for the Department of Education, Onigbongbo LCDA and previously served as APC assistant legal advisor for Onigbongbo LCDA.
Hassan served as the south west social secretary for the National Young Women in Politics Forum (NYWPF).
She is a Rotarian, chartered member and the chairman of the office for Youth Activities of Rotary Royal Ikeja Ambassadors Club and an international member of Amnesty International
She is the founder of Elpis Initiative, a non-profit organisation focused on breaking the cycle of weaponised poverty at the grassroots level through welfare drives, vocational training and support.
Hassan enjoys culinary arts, film and theatre, reading, and spending time with her family.
