Oniru of Iru Kingdom Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal clocked three years on the throne on Wednesday.
The monarch said in an Instagram post that it has been three years of making impact.
“Looking back at the journey so far, I would say it has been 3 years of touching lives, invaluable experiences, advocating for sustainable growth, peace and development, strategic leadership and continuous impact,” he said.
The Oniru thanked God, his ancestors, family, council members and everyone around him for their support.
“I thank the Almighty for the gift of life, good health and for the gift of people. I also thank my forebearers for their blessings which has always backed us.
“I thank my family, the Oniru-in-Council as well as every person around me for their support and playing various parts in the impact made till date,” he wrote.
The king added, “We are three years and counting and we pray that the Almighty aids us to do more even as we ask that we all continue doing our part in realizing the Iru of our dreams because, the vision remains #LeGIT!”
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on June 7, 2020 presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Lawal, making him the 15th Oniru of Iru land.
The Oniru is a former commissioner for agriculture in Lagos and was one of the longest-serving members of the state cabinet.
