Founder and chancellor of Madonna University Rev Fr Emmanuel Edeh has boasted that female students who gain admission as virgins also graduate as virgins.
The 76-year-old Catholic priest said this during the university’s 25th anniversary celebration on Wednesday.
“It is only in this university that it is maintained that girls who have entered the university as virgins graduate as virgins. You can join our university as a virgin and graduate as a virgin.
“Tell me any other university in the whole world that can maintain this. That is why people from London, America, England, Germany, when you meet them, they will say Father, we want to marry a girl who is a virgin. And they don’t tend to get that until they come to Madonna University,” Edh said.
Earlier in his speech, Edeh also said students who do not meet the 85 percent attendance are not allowed to sit for examinations, and lecturers who fail to meet 100 percent attendance are sanctioned.
He also said all the university’s students live on campus for effective monitoring, adding that the school does not discriminate in its admission procedures.
The Edeh also said that cultism, molestation, examination malpractice and all other social vices cannot be found in the school.
“Madonna is a university where there is no secret cultism, molestation, exam malpractice, no bullying, zero tolerance for hard drugs. A zero tolerance for sexual immorality,” he said.
Madonna University was founded in 1999 and has campuses in Okija, Anambra State; Elele, Rivers State and Akpugo, Enugu State.
Guests at the institution’s silver jubilee celebration included deputy speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi and the Bishop of Ekwlobia Diocese Cardinal Peter Okpaleke.
