Silekunola Naomi Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has confirmed she is single but not yet ready to mingle.
The 30-year-old told PUNCH in an interview published on Saturday that although she cannot confirm if she is ready to mingle she is “a bride waiting to be dressed up.”
Silekunola, who left the palace in controversial circumstances in December 2021 after having the monarch’s first son and crown prince Tadenikawo, said it would take a “strong king” to get her.
“You know, ‘Eni ti won gbe iyawo bo wa ba ko kin garun’. I don’t know how God plans to do it because He is my event planner. But there is a big event waiting to happen (if you are) talking about that aspect of my life.
“Hmmm, you see this queen, it will take a strong king to get me; I am single,” she said.
The former Ife queen added that she considers the birth of her son as her greatest achievement.
“I am super excited to be the proud mother of Tadenikawo. It is a whole lot; that’s a great achievement that will take precedence over all other achievements I have had,” she said.
Silekunola noted that she would talk about her experiences in the palace at a later time.
The clergywoman shocked many in December 2021 when she announced her separation from Oba Ogunwusi.
Just two days to Christmas, she wrote on Instagram that she tried to make the union work but added that the Ooni’s public identity is at variance with “his true self”.
